Job Available - Research Specialist II

Applications are being accepted for a full-time permanent Research Specialist II position located at the University of South Carolina Baruch Marine Field Laboratory in Georgetown, SC.

Under general supervision, serves as research resource technician and facility coordinator for the Baruch Marine Field Laboratory (BMFL) and the North Inlet‐Winyah Bay Reserve (NI‐WB NERR) in Georgetown, SC.  Conducts scheduled research field sampling, maintains research infrastructure, including the seawater system, and processes samples. Schedules and leads ecological field excursions to North Inlet with visiting classes. Supervises and orientates personnel (students, staff, volunteers, visitors) to the use of study sites, facilities, boats, equipment, policies and safety. Coordinates with USC Environmental Health and Occupational Safety and BMFL staff for safety programs. Schedules use of facilities and research equipment.

Minimum qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in an environmental science with one year experience in a field-oriented and/or laboratory research position.  Master’s degree in an environmental science is preferred.
